Superelastic Nitinol
A superelastic nitinol needle with a "hooked" end was collapsed and pushed along a stainless steel needle to allow it to penetrate into tissue. Once in position, the hook of the nitinol needle leaves the needle body via a small oval hole in the side. As it is pushed out of the needle, the hook curve re-forms and the end of the nitinol is positioned correctly for drug administration.
